![]() The aim of his poems is to raise awareness about the condition of Black people and to help them gain equality and life of better quality. Finally, in the third poem The Race Industry, he criticizes the most extreme form of discrimination that Black people have suffered, namely slavery. ![]() In the second poem SOS (Save Our Sons), his criticism is directed towards the British authorities, who fail to provide equal treatment and protection for Black people. In the first poem Neighbours, he criticizes the unfair stereotype imposed to Black people both in the past and in the modern era. Zephaniah s poems are often considered a powerful piece of literature because through his poems, he voices his criticism concerning various kinds of discrimination that Black British have experienced or are experiencing.
